Elpis
.:The Basics:.
Full Name: Elpis
Name Origin: from Greek mythology, Elpis was the personification and spirit of hope
Pronunciation: Just as it would look, el-pis
Nicknames/Aliases: Elly or just El, though she prefers to be called by her full name
Species: Maned Wolf
Gender: Female
Age: Two years and 7 months,
Current Rank: Survivor
Desired Rank: Sentry
Relationship Status: Single
.:Physical Description:.
Eye Colour: a dark, nearly black, brown
Fur Colour: Her pelt is a combination of anything from fiery reds to golden oranges mixed with some white and black.
Markings: Black stockings + muzzle, white throat/lower jaw and tail tip, fur along her underside is also tipped white.
Measurements: 35 inches at the shoulder, head-to-tail length is around 40 inches
Weight: 25-30 pounds
Full Description
Elpis is best described as an overgrown, extremely awkward-looking fox/wolf/dog thing with a set of stilts for some legs. She has the pelt and colouration of a fox; red/orange fur, black stockings and muzzle, white throat and tail tip, though her ears are more like the African Painted Dog's, being comically large on her very slender, lanky frame.
Despite her long legs, she is actually very slow when it comes to running, and is very awkward looking while doing it, as she has an odd robotic gait (moving both legs on one side at once, so it is left, left, right, right instead of the usual left, right, left right), she would actually look more like a galloping horse then a running canine. It also doesn't help that her front legs are a bit shorter then her hind ones, which makes it very easy for her to maneuver through rugged terrain and mountains, but very uncomfortable to go down one.
She is also only thinly muscled, only ever being able to take down small rodents/reptiles/fish with the odd little deer.
.:Mental Description:.
*will eventually be rewritten
For the most part, Elpis is very quiet, withdrawn and distant, very rarely speaking or being seen. It's going to take a whole lot to get her close to anything she use to be before all of this stuff went down. Not only that, it's going to be hard to get past her very apathetic, cold exterior, not really one to talk about her feelings and ideas, expecting the same in others around her. It doesn't really help that she is also very paranoid, just a big ball of tense nerves, always ready to escape at a moment's notice, which can be very annoying most of the time, but making her an excellent escapist at the same time. When her paranoia gets particularly bad, she tends to go into a sort of hyper-active, nervous phase where she literally can't sit or be quiet, usually talking or giggling to herself while pacing.
Despite her seemingly creepy exterior, she can actually be very nice to be around, always listening and being polite to others, willing to lend a hand in any way she can.
Likes
-being familiar with her surroundings and those around her
-the night/dark/dusk, despite being very paranoid, she actually prefers the dark, as it makes her feel more safe, because there is less of a chance she could be spotted
-being by herself
-open areas, such as fields, meadows, etc
-exploring/traveling/keeping on the move
Dislikes
-quietness, as it allows her mind to go crazy with paranoid thoughts
-being forced out of her (very tiny) comfort zone
-forced socialization
-being lied to, even though she has no problem lying to others
-not having time to familiarize herself with her surroundings/those around her
-being/feeling closed in/not having an escape route (ex. being ganged up on, literally and metaphorically)
-humans
Fears/Phobias
-dying/losing others from the virus
-claustrophobia/cleithrophobia (fear of confined spaces/being closed/locked in)
-traumatophobia (fear of being injured)
-humans, the messed up ones, the ones that try and attack you
Talents/Skills
-maneuvering through rugged terrain/hills/mountains
-excellent hearing + sight (large ears, long legs and good sight = excellent at guarding, etc.)
-stamina
-lying/deceiving/tricking others
-hiding/blending in/going unnoticed
-escaping in general
Disabilities/Weaknesses
-speed/agility, her odd gait is very useful for preserving energy when walking, but the exact opposite when it comes to running
-cowardly/a scapegoat/a doormat, far from being the bravest, won't stand up for herself unless under extreme conditions
-remaining calm/being quiet/relaxing
-passive aggressive, one to talk behind others backs, not really loyal to anyone but herself
-selfish, tends to only think for herself
.:History:.
Parent's Names: Desiderio, her father (deceased, taken down by some messed up human) _____, mother (deceased, taken by the virus, too young to really remember her)
Siblings: _____, brother (deceased, cause of death uncertain, too young to really remember him)

Full History
*will eventually be rewritten and smoothed out
Elpis had been born in a little zoo up in Leipzig, Germany. There, she lived a fairly normal little puppyhood, very rarely being hungry or really worrying about anything, besides her seemingly ill mother. It wasn't until her mother attacked her little brother did things really start going to hell. She had been acting a bit sicker then usual throughout the morning, it wasn't until she woke up from her nap did they really start worrying. She snapped and growled at everything, it was when Elpis' little brother came up to ask her about what was wrong did she finally snap, lunging quickly at him, there was no no chance he could escape.
It had all happened so fast, no one knew what do, they were all too stunned by her sudden change in attitude, someone once so kind and caring, attacking her own pups. They didn't have much choice but to gun her down, just as she was about to lunge at little Elpis. After that, they didn't hesitate to separate them. They quickly took out her poor little brother, before finally carrying away her mother. She never saw either of them again.
After that, the whole scene apparently got her dad thinking. He started to pace and paw anxiously at the cage around them, even trying to attack it sometimes. It wasn't until one day she finally got the courage to ask him did she figure out what he was doing, there wasn't an exit, not a single way out. That idea terrified the both of them. What if it was to happen again? What if one of them started to act strange like her mother had? How would they escape? They couldn't, or so it seemed at the moment.
It didn't help that the humans started to seem panicked and nervous themselves. It wasn't until one there was a loud, piercing scream somewhere near them did they find a way to escape. The zookeeper who was there to check on them had left the door unlocked, in their panic. Her father didn't hesitate to scoop Elpis up and break into a dead sprint, quickly trying to find a way out of the seemingly maze-like palace.
Once escaping the 'maze', they found themselves surrounded by humans, except something was seem wrong. They were all afraid, running and pushing each other out of the way to try and escape, escape from something Elpis and her father didn't know of. It terrifying, crowds and crowds of people shoving and screaming at each other.
Elpis and her father didn't hesitate to try and find a way out, and they did, it might've taken them a while, but they did it.
From there, they ran as far away as they could from the city, quickly learning to stay away from humans, especially the ones who lunged and attacked each other.
After that, it was actually pretty good. Her father taught her his ways of living off the land, no help needed from the humans, and they survived. Sure, it was actually all pretty rough, as her father was still heartbroken and didn't have a clue of how to go on in such a weird new place, but it was all she knew of, and that was good enough.
They spent a little under a year being 'free', exploring the new world around them and learning to survive and adapt. It was good, much better then being trapped inside of giant, inescapable cages.
But of course, fate is such a cruel mistress, finding it very amusing to throw life-shattering curve balls when everything finally seems to be getting better.
They had apparently wandered to close to a city or something, because there was suddenly some messed up human after them. There they were, once sleeping so peacefully, suddenly getting attacked by a crazy human. Elpis was the more fortunate one, her father wasn't, the beast had taken a good chunk out of his leg, making it impossible for him to keep going.
His screams still haunt her to this day, so does the sight. First, she watched her mother suddenly attack and try to eat her brother when she was a mere pup, now there she was, watching her last surviving family member getting eaten alive by some monster as an adult.
His death was kinda the lost straw for her mind, sending her into a mess of paranoia and fear, constantly moving and surviving on little to none sleep and food. Now, she kinda just wanders through Germany, trying to survive.
